The Family of George Pluckrose and Miriam Wrightson
Origins
This is a small tree - a single family. George's origins are not clear, although I suspect that he is the George Thomas Pluckrose, son of Thomas Pluckrose and Eliza Furness who was born in Shoreditch in 1846. He can be found on Tree1010.
| Year | Census place | Occupation | Age | Place of birth | Census reference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1901 | Hammersmith | architect and surveyor | 52 | Chelsea | RG13/41 f.15 p.10 |
| 1891 | Hammersmith | builder | 42 | Chelsea | RG12/35 f.156 p.55 |
| 1881 | Willesden | builder's clerk | 32 | Paddington | RG11/1364 f.93 p.7 |
| 1871 | Chelsea | solicitor's clerk | 22 | Shoreditch | RG10/91 f.48 p.5 |
| 1861 | Hackney | errand boy | 14 | Hackney | RG9/162 f.98 p.76 |
George was very consistent over the years when declaring his age, which makes the two-year discrepancy in 1861 more significant. His declared place of birth, however, moved in a westward (and more respectable) direction over the years. I suspect, also, that his 1901 occupation is a slight exaggeration; his neighbour in 1891 was an architect and surveyor - perhaps that was where he got the idea? I have not been able to trace an alternative outcome for the 1861 errand boy who was born Q2 1846, Shoreditch, 2 142.
George's marriage certificate may provide the answer.
George met his future wife, Miriam, when he was lodging in the Wrightson household in 1871.
George William Pluckrose, born Q2 1906 Fulham 1a 218, is probably the son of Henry Arthur.
