The Descendants of Jabez Pluck of Braintree
Origins
This tree links directly to Tree 8 - the Wendens Ambo branch. Jabez and his wife Elizabeth Woolfe (Betsy) can be found in both trees.
Points of interest
- The 'Braintree and Bocking' edition of the Archive Photographs series, published by the Chalford Publishing Company (ISBN 0-7524-0129-7), has a photograph of Bank Street (taken in 1910) showing the premises of Frederick Pluck, 'Tailors, Hatters, Hosiers and Outfitters'. They record that 'Jebez (sic) Pluck established the business in the 1960s and also had a Witham branch'. Frederick (PL774) was the youngest son of Jabez (PL501).
- The same publication also has a photograph taken in 1911 showing the Bank Street premises of Elizabeth Pluck, the draper. Elizabeth is almost certainly Elizabeth Woolf (PL769) the wife of Jabez.
